Bishop Barthol Barretto visited Catholic Ashram, Newasa on August 24, 2024. This was an event that brought tremendous joy and spiritual rejuvenation to the entire parish. The visit comprised meetings with priests, Religious Sisters, family visits, and discussions with the Parish Pastoral Council members and the Parish Youth Group.
Bishop Barthol first met with the Sisters and shared words of encouragement. He then proceeded to to visit the families, where he spent time with the faithful, praying for them, and listening to them.
The Bishop's discussions with the Parish Pastoral Councillors and the members of the Youth Group focused on key areas, including – family visitation, outreach to the poor, sick and marginalized, bringing back those who have strayed, protecting the young from harmful habits and guiding them on the right path. Bishop Barthol concluded his pastoral visit by meeting Rev. Fr Dilip Jadhav and Rev. Fr Akshay Adhav separately where various parish matters were discussed.
The visit was a resounding success, and the parish community was deeply grateful for the Bishop's presence and guidance.
Recommendations for the Parish Growth by Bishop Barthol included implementation of a program for regular family visits and outreach to the poor, sick, and marginalized and establishing a youth mentorship program to guide young ones and protect them from harmful influences.
